As insensitive and problematic Dio may be, he has gone through some awful shit. I don't excuse his actions but I understand where he's coming from.

We both had awful, alcoholic, violent fathers, that abused our moms and treated us like shit. I feel that, upon abandoning his humanity to become a vampire, Dio thought he would also get rid of all things that hurt him as a human being, leaving the pain behind with whatever else that made him human. It's really sad, if you think about it. It's like committing suicide.

I really love Dio with all my heart. He's such a complex and difficult character, it makes me really sad to see people hate on him without even trying to understand that side of him. I don't blame them though.

Dio is not only a comfort character to me but also a character I identify with. I don't care about doubles, I really just do this for coping. Thanks for reading this.
